New Year, New Skin!
There are many routines and habits that make up our day – to – day lives, from listening to the
news and having a coffee before heading out the door to work, to make sure you get to the gym a
few times a week. However, there is one habit that is easy to neglect and it’s quite possible the
most important one. The face is a mirror of physical and emotional wellbeing. People learn to
communicate with you, know you and depend on you by the impressions they get from your
face.
On a daily basis skin care takes approximately five minutes in the morning and five minutes in
the evening. Keeping the skin in good condition is supported by a minimum of four basic steps.
STEP 1: Cleansing thoroughly with a product that does not strip the skin of its natural
conditioners and essential moisture. Ordinary body soaps are not recommended as they are harsh
on your skin.
STEP 2: Toning the skin with a toner or astringent in order to restore the natural PH of the skin
following cleansing, mostly for Acne and Rosacea whose skin is compromised.
STEP 3: Moisturizing and serums to compensate for the unavoidable losses it sustains from
aging and exposure to the environment. They are based on skin type and condition and may
change according to the season. It is very important to remember that oily skin needs moisturizer
as much as dry skin. Excessive oil on your skin does not replace moisture loss.
STEP 4: Protecting the skin from the damaging effects of skin exposure. It is the most neglected
step of all the three. Consider what happens to a grape that is left on the vine in the hot sun,
eventually it loses all its moisture and shrivels up to become a raisin. UVA rays are not blocked
by glass, allowing skin to be exposed to damaging UVA even when indoors.20 % of aging is
genetic; the rest is in your hands. Select a product which can defend from both UVA and UVB
rays.
When establishing your skin care routine, start with the four basics. A skincare routine does not
have to be complicated. Skin confidence comes from good skin health, when your skin is healthy
and taken care of, it boosts your self-esteem and makes it easier for you to focus on the many
other tasks for you need to accomplish.
Let’s start a skin care routine for this New year for a new skin and new you.
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2022!
