What are eyelash extensions?
Eyelash extensions are individual synthetic lashes of different lengths, curls and weight (thickness) cut in the shape of a natural lash and applied one-by-one to each individual natural lash as an ‘extension’ of your natural lash. Lash extensions are not strip lashes, clusters or flares. Lash extensions are meant to lengthen, thicken and enhance the natural lash line. You will feel no pain, discomfort or lash loss when applied properly. Lash applications is actually very relaxing and at times puts you to sleep!
Who wears eyelash extensions?
Not just for celebrities, normal, everyday ladies love eyelash extensions, and many become lash addicted! From a business professional, to a bride on her special day, to a stay-at-home-mom who just doesn’t have time for makeup. Anyone who wants longer lashes that likes having the appearance of wearing mascara will love eyelash extensions. The extensions come in a variety of lengths, curls, and thickness so you can have the lashes you have dreamed of and that fit your style!
Can I still wear eye makeup?
Yes, but most clients don’t even feel the need to wear eye makeup…you will wake up and look rejuvenated! No more running, streaking, smudging, or flaking mascara. You can still use eyeliner and eye shadows as usual, as long as it is not pencil liner, as these products contain oil and will break down the adhesive. Mascara is NOT recommended, as this will break down the adhesive, clump up the extensions and cause your extensions to come off earlier than expected. You will want an oil free makeup remover which helps to remove irritating debris and keep you lash line clean and is perfectly safe for use around your extensions. I recommend that you use a makeup remover with a fluffy brush or q-tip to gently remove any makeup near your extensions so that you never have to rub your lashes as this will cause your lashes to come off early.
How safe are Eyelash Extensions?
The lashes are applied directly to the natural lash, never applied to the skin. The procedure is pain free and the extensions are feather light, so they will not pull your natural lashes out. I take extra care to make sure we cover each individual lash. I do not clump lashes together, apply them to the skin, or damage your natural lashes with an improper application. The eyes should always remain closed while receiving this proceedure.
How do I prepare for a Lash Extension Service?
Appointments are timed. To make the most of your appointment we recommend that you arrive with your lashes clean and free of mascara, oil, and residual glues or adhesives from other lash enhancement products. The presence of these substances can adversely affect the ability for your new lash extensions to bond properly. WE CANNNOT GUARANTEE THE LONGEVITY OF YOUR LASH EXTENSIONS IF THEY ARE NOT CLEAN WHEN YOU ARRIVE. We will strive to remove these substances from your lashes if you arrive with them but we may not have the full appointment time to maximize the number of lash extensions we can apply.
Is it okay to also wear mascara?
You may find you don’t need to wear mascara in addition to having your lash extensions, but if you do, apply it starting from mid to the tips of the extensions. Using mascara at the base of extensions could result in clumpy lash extensions or make the extension fall off. Make sure to wear mascara specific to eyelash extensions and do not wear waterproof mascara
What happens when you cry?
Getting eyelash extensions should be a completely pain free experience. If you experience any discomfort during the procedure, you should mention this immediately to your technician. This could be a sign that you have an allergic reaction to the glue. It is important to avoid crying as well as moisture during the cure period, but as soon as that period (12 to 24 hours) is over, cry all you want. Lash extensions are water-resistant. It is very important to not cry during the process as crying can spread the glue/vapors causing irritation. Crying during the process will also make it very difficult for the glue to dry and bond the extension to your lashes.
How to shower with eyelash extensions?
We suggest keeping water away from your lashes for the first 12-24 hours after you receive your lashes. The reason is that water can disrupt the setting of the adhesive holding your lashes in place. Twenty four hours is the standard time it takes the glue to cure, however in humid or moist conditions, it could take up to 48 hours. During the cure time avoid moisture, heat and steam.
Can you swim with eyelash extensions?
Similar to showering, of course you can! You just have to wait enough time to ensure the adhesive is properly cured. Wait at least 12 hours and depending on the conditions, how much you will be swimming, etc. you may want to wait a full 24 hours
Do lash extensions fall out over a certain period of time?
The extensions are attached to your natural lashes, so over time they will fall out naturally. We recommend fill-ins every 2-3 weeks. Lash extensions which claim to last longer than this period may be harmful to your lash and eye health; stronger bonds require stronger glue strength which may be harmful. With no fill-in services, the last extension should come off anywhere from 6-8 weeks after your full set. Lash extensions can come off with your natural lash or pop off on their own due to external factors.
Working with inexperienced lash technicians you may encounter those that apply one synthetic lash to three or more natural lashes. This will cause clumps, and can lead to the lash breaking and or falling out. Lastly, your lashes may fall out prematurely if you pull at them, or try to remove the extensions yourself
How are Lash Extensions Applied?
Lash extensions are applied with semi-permanent glue that won’t cause eye irritation nor damage the natural lash
You will lay comfortably on a massage or facial table with your eyes closed. The Eyelash professional will then apply an under eye gel pad to cover your lower lashes . Then the extensions will be applied to each individual eyelash on a hair by hair basis.
How Long Do Lash Extensions Take to Apply?
Generally speaking, Eyelash Extensions take 1 to 3 hours to apply depending on how many natural lashes you have, and the type of lash extensions you choose. Fill-ins can be done in 1 to 2 hours depending on the number of lashes that need to be replaced.
How Do I Care for my new Eyelash Extensions?
- Recommended to wait 24 hours to get them wet.
- Never allow shower water to beat directly on your extensions. Constant pressure on the extensions can cause them to “pop” off or wear off sooner than normal.
- Do not rub, pick, pull or twist your extensions.
- Do not sleep on your lashes.
- Gently comb the tips of your extensions with the spoolie brush provided as needed to straighten and “fluff” your extensions. Do not overcomb your extensions, or use the spoolie brush as you would with mascara.
- Never use mascara on your extensions, as this will shorten the lifespan of your extensions, cause clumping, and dissolve the adhesive. You can use mascara on your bottom lashes.
- Use a q-tip when removing eye makeup
- Never use oil makeup removers on your extensions, as this will dissolve the adhesive and ruin your extensions. Only use oil free remover.
- Receive regular fills to maintain the fullness and natural look of your extensions.
- Cleanse your eyelash extensions several times per week, if not daily, with a Lash Cleanse Remove; a water-based non-irritating lash cleanser.
- Do not use a lash curler, this will rip your lashes out.
- Tanning beds, extreme heat, saunas, hot yoga can make the lashes lose their curl.
- Saunas, hot tubs, or a steam machine during a facial can cause the glue on your lashes to break down and lose the lashes. When getting a facial just request cotton rounds to cover your eyes.
***Please come to your appointment with eye makeup and eye contacts removed.
How do I maintain my Lash Extensions?
As your natural lashes shed the density of your lash extensions will become thinner. Fill ins are required to maintain your desired density. Fill ins will be required every two to three weeks depending on how dense your initial application was and how quickly your natural lashes shed. It is easier to predict how often you will need touch-ups following your initial application.
How do I prepare for my Lash Extension Fill-in visit?
To make the most of your touch-up it is recommended that you arrive with your lashes clean and free of makeup and oil residue. The more time we must spend cleaning your lashes the less time we will have to apply fresh, new lashes.
What if I no longer wish to wear my Lash Extensions?
If you no longer wish to wear a lash extension the lash extension removal process is fast and painless. We will remove your lash extensions using a gel lash extension remover. The remover will be applied and allowed to sit for 3 minutes. After being saturated with the gel lash extension remover the extensions will slide off leaving your natural lashes healthy and intact
Who should not get lash extensions?
An individual with any allergy to adhesives or cyanoacrylate adhesives. An individual who has undergone chemotherapy over the last six months, or an individual who does not have natural eyelashes may not have Eyelash Extensions applied. Lashes that grow into the eye are not candidates for lash extensions either. If you suffer from an eye infecton or a degenerative disease of the eye, I cannot apply lash extensions to your eyes. If your sleep on your face (stomach sleeper), try sleeping on your side or back. Sleeping on your face, could rub lashes off while asleep

- Come to your appointment without any eye makeup. Your lash artist will always clean your lashes prior to applying the lash extensions however, this is not removing makeup, which will take away from lash application time.
- Avoid using waterproof mascara 2-3 days prior as it can leave a residue that may prevent lashes from adhering properly.
- Avoid using sunscreens or moisturizers prior to your appointment.
- Don’t curl your lashes prior to your appointment
- If you have lash extensions currently from another salon you will need to schedule a required 15 minute consultation at the beginning of your lash extension appointment.
- Use the restroom right before your appointment.
- Bring music or a podcast to listen to!
- Wear your glasses or remove your contacts prior to your appointment. We do provide solutions and cases if needed.

- Avoid hot showers (with steam), saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga or tanning beds for 48 hours.
- Sleep on your back or side to avoid sleeping on the lashes.
